Character name: Lucius Malfoy
Fandom: Harry Potter
Species: Human
Character powers:
Lucius is a wizard of some skill, in the interpretation of the Harry Potter series. Out of the shadow of Lord Voldemort, I imagine he would have reclaimed a wand, thus enabling him to be reasonably powerful, as far as these things go. He can cast simple but very useful spells, such as the unlocking of doors or the summoning of objects, and more offensive curses, such as stunning spells, pain spells and even the killing curse -- but for all that he is a skilled duelist, he is not as good as some of his peers, preferring words and secrecy than direct physical confrontation. He was raised in the midst of Dark Magic and so knows mean little tricks, and is also a capable potioneer.
part ii.
1.) Is it acceptable for your character to be mind-controlled or persuaded? How susceptible are they to mind control, hypnotism, or suggestion?
A working knowledge and former practice of Occlumency means that it might prove difficult for telepaths and similar to invade his thoughts and control his mind when he is unawares. That said, those of particular power and determination should be able to break past these defenses, and he is still susceptible to psychic manipulation. Please ask me!
2.) Is it acceptable for your character to have their mind read? Does this include traumatic memories? What is their mind like (disturbing, orderly, joyful, surprisingly empty, etc.)? If the character has psychic walls or preventative measures against psychic interference, please explain.
Same as the above.
OOCly, I am fine with his mind being read. His thoughts are generally ordered, but spiral-like in terms of suspicion, overthinking things, self-reminders about his own prejudices, reinforcing ideas and general resistance to notions that contradict it.
3.) Are thoughts mentioned in narration acceptable for a telepath to pick up?
Not really.
4.) What about emotions, in the case of an empath? What sort of general emotional reading would such a character receive from yours?
Quiet anger and resentment, a lot of self-doubt and bitterness. Always on the verge of heightened emotions and defensiveness, which is a change that has come with age and circumstance.
5.) Are there any aspects of your character's mind, emotions, or memories you would like to be picked up, mentioned, or used in character? Conversely, is there anything that should not be noticed, or at least never mentioned?
Not really, in terms of preference -- there are a lot of Sensitive Topics that may have Lucius shut down on you, but OOC wise, whatever is clever, Trevor, and you can take advantage of them if you like. Feel free to ask me.
part iii.
1.) Physically speaking, what stands out about your character? Imposing size? Physical scarring? Tattoos?
Lucius Malfoy is in his late 40s, and he also looks it, with crows feet lines stamped at the corners of his eyes, and laugh-lines (more readily brought on in scowls and sneers) are permanent features at the corners of his mouth. He wears his hair long, and it's a shock of white-blonde that has only begun to have some white-grey threaded through it in recent months. Though not the most physically impressive among his peers, he carries himself like he might be, using his height to his advantage and a particularly well crafted icy stare made only more so by the grey paleness of his eyes.
He once had white scarring where a cursed tattoo was printed on his forearm, but it has since vanished entirely. He has a few new scars between shoulder to elbow.
2.) Is your character immune to any of the following: poisons, chemical agents, telekinetic influence, radiation, or types of illnesses?
No.
3.) Is your character physiologically different from a human in any way? This can include their blood, skin, hair, et cetera being made up of something unusual or simply differing in construction and durability.
No, but he is innately able to use the magic from his world.
4.) Are you amenable to having your character be harmed in any way? How far are you comfortable with injury to you character going? Does this include being fed on by vampires, willingly or unwillingly?
I am amenable to injury in general, but if it's severe/crippling, then conversation beforehand would be good. That can include vampires. Feel free to contact me.
5.) Is it acceptable for other characters with abilities of shapeshifting or disguise to imitate your character? Does this include ability mimicry?
Sure, but let me know so I can stalk. Ability mimicry is a no go, however, due to the way magic functions for him. It takes practice, knowledge, and tools.
part iv.
1.) Can your character's presence or aura be noticed by other characters, and how would it look/feel to them? How would it manifest to a character with no supernatural abilities, if at all?
They should be able to sense that he is a magic user without being inhuman, and also that he is strongly associated with dark magics. At this stage of the game, one could also sense his quasi-frequent trips to the fog.
2.) Can your character be affected by magic spells and curses?
Yes, but depending on the spell and curse, he might be able to block it or reverse it. We can discuss.
3.) Can your character be affected by sin and corruption, and be tempted toward expressing their darker urges (of whatever flavor)?
Yes.
4.) What sort of sins is the character prone toward, and how might they best be tempted, if you are interested in such an event?
Pride, primarily, and to a lesser and more recent extent, wrath.
5.) Are you amenable to the character receiving prophetic visions, including as part of a plot?
Yes.
part v.
1.) Is threadjacking allowed? Under what circumstances?
Yes. All circumstances.
2.) Is it acceptable for canonmates that are updated further than yours to inform your character of events yours has not yet experienced?
Yes.
3.) Are there triggering or upsetting topics you would like other characters to avoid mentioning to yours for the sake of continued comfort (racist words, homophobia, self-injury, etc.)?
No, characters are characters. I would also like to note that Lucius can have his more bigoted moments himself with regard to magic/non-magic, which can seem an analogue to racism and classism.
4.) Are there any additions you would like us to make to this survey?
Nyet.
